UK rules and deadlines to know
| Topic | What applies |
|---|---|
| VAT registration | Register when taxable turnover goes over £90,000 in any rolling 12 months, or is expected to in the next 30 days alone. You can ask to deregister below £88,000. |
| Making Tax Digital for VAT | Every VAT-registered business keeps digital records and files VAT returns through compatible software. |
| Making Tax Digital for Income Tax | Sole traders and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000 joined on 6 April 2026. The threshold falls to £30,000 from April 2027 and £20,000 from April 2028. |
| Corporation tax | 19% on profits up to £50,000 and 25% above £250,000, with marginal relief in between. Pay 9 months and 1 day after the year end, and file the CT600 within 12 months. |
| Company accounts | Private companies file accounts at Companies House within 9 months of the year end, and a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months. |
| Identity verification | Since 18 November 2025, new directors must verify their identity with Companies House. Existing directors verify when their company files its next confirmation statement. |
| Coming in April 2028 | Small and micro companies will have to file a profit and loss account at Companies House, and all accounts will have to be filed through software. |
| Self Assessment | Online returns, and any tax still owed, are due by 31 January after the end of the tax year. |
Corporation tax limits are reduced for associated companies and for accounting periods shorter than 12 months. Checked 27 October 2026. This is general information, not tax advice.
Who files what
We prepare your books, returns and filings. Each return is then submitted either from your own HMRC and Companies House accounts once you approve it, or by an agent you authorise. Where a piece of work has to be done by a UK-registered or supervised firm, we tell you before we start and work alongside them.
How it works
Free Leak Check
A 20-minute introductory call, not an audit. You tell us where money feels tight, and we tell you the likely leaks.
Written proposal
Scope, deliverables, timing and a fixed fee, agreed in writing before any work starts.
Onboarding
Access to your software and bank feeds, and authorisation for the tax portals we'll use. Any backlog comes first.
Every month
Reconciled books and a dashboard by an agreed date, and every return ready before its deadline.

Can you look after my UK business from Pakistan?
Yes. We work online, inside your own cloud software, and arrange calls in UK hours. Documents move through encrypted folders, never as loose email attachments.
Do you file VAT returns?
We prepare every VAT return in MTD-compatible software. It's then submitted from your own HMRC account once you approve it, or by an agent you authorise.
Do I need to register for VAT?
If your taxable turnover went over £90,000 in the last 12 months, or will in the next 30 days, yes. We check where you stand on the free Leak Check call.
Are you ready for Making Tax Digital for Income Tax?
Yes. We set up digital records and prepare each quarterly update. Our guide explains who is in from 2026, 2027 and 2028.
What does it cost?
Most UK clients pay a fixed monthly fee based on transaction volume and what's included. You get a written quote after the free Leak Check.
